Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 Review

Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 Neuro Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker

Price Range: High

Rice Quality: Very Good

Benefits & Features: Several

Performance: Excellent

Pros vs. Cons: Pros Outweigh Cons
Overall Rating: Very Good

The one thing Zojirushi rice cookers are known for is great tasting rice, and the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 Neuro Fuzzy Logic rice cooker provides just that.

Unlike the “NP-HTC10/18” models, this unit will not break the bank and can cook all rice types quite impressively. By utilizing “Fuzzy Logic” technology the unit actually thinks for itself by monitoring and adjusting both temperature and cooking time. The end result is a plate of great tasting moist and fluffy rice without the guess work.

All without the frustrations of boil-over and rice crusting issues.

Better Moist Brown Rice Over Cheaper Models

Cooking the brown type of rice perfectly is sometimes a challenge. Getting it as close to the moist and fluffy “sticky” consistency as white rice is one of this model’s plus benefits!

Along with the Fuzzy Logic technology is a non-stick spherical pan which distributes heat evenly which is important so that every grain has the same texture. Cheaper models just “boil the rice to death” in a thin bowl until there is no more water left. This method leads to either hard or soggy rice.

Another thing we favor is that the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 offers a variety of rice settings including white rice, brown rice, sushi rice, rinse free, and a porridge setting. Furthermore, for preparing white rice, folks can select a hard, soft, or regular texture. On average, this cooker can produce a maximum of around 16 cups of cooked white rice.

This Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 5 cup rice cooker comes with two measuring cups (one for rinsing rice), a spatula with holder, and instruction manual.

Pros

  • even heat distributing rice cooker makes perfect meals
  • benefits include above standard rice quality and great performance
  • automatic keep warm feature hold rice moist for hours
  • non-stick pan is a breeze to clean
  • programmable timer
  • retractable cord for clutter free hassle and easy transport/storage

Cons

  • internal battery needs to be replaced after 3 to 4 years (depending on use)
  • long cooking times
  • high price tag
  • cannot steam vegetables or slow cook

Where to Buy a Zojirushi Rice Cooker

Available at Amazon.com

We almost had a perfect winner here, but the internal battery replacement causes an inconvenience for some. When the time does come, you will need to find an authorized dealer…or ship it out for replacement. Why Zojirushi makes it this difficult for such a great and popular model is beyond us.

But a small price to pay for years of perfect rice perhaps?

If you’re still considering purchasing this Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 model, make sure the maximum cup size capacity meets your needs. Remember that for folks in the United States, the cup sizes are smaller than US measurements.

Folks may also want to check out the Panasonic SR-DE103 “see Panasonic page”. It is very similar as it offers the same benefits and features (with the ability to steam veggies) as this Zojirushi model, but for a lot less!

However, it too needs a battery replacement!

Just keep in mind that the unit performs well without the battery (should it die out) as its main design is to keep the clock running when the cooker is unplugged as well as remembering previous settings should there be a short power outage.

Also be sure to consider the 10 cup NS-ZCC18 model too should it fit your needs.
