The unit will do the rest, including soaking for the appropriate time before starting the cooking process. Users will not experience boil over or rice crusting issues and have all the hassle and guess work eliminated from making great textured rice.

Zojirushi NP-HBC10 Brown Rice Cooker
For folks who are looking for a good Zojirushi 5 cup rice cooker solely for making very good quality brown rice, the NP-HBC10 is worth considering.
Let us stress considering since this unit is quite expensive and costs a lot more than your average electric rice cooker. However, it should fit perfectly in kitchens where brown rice is consumed daily and for those who want their brown rice to be at its best texture, best flavor, and at its healthiest.
The Zojirushi NP-HBC10 does just that using a method called “GABA” cooking that soaks the rice for an additional 2 hours before cooking the rice. This extra time allows the water to penetrate the brown rice bran layers and release more nutrients and flavor once fully cooked. The cooker also comes with a preset timer to help folks plan around this extra time.
Other great features include settings for white rice (with 3 texture settings), regular brown rice, mixed, sushi, and “quick cook”. The inner bowl is non-stick and easy to clean. Also compare to the Zojirushi NP-HTC10 brown rice cooker.
For a cooker on the more basic side without all the settings and timer options, Zojirushi also puts out a simplified one touch operation model.
The NS-RNC10 is very similar to the Tiger JNP series rice cooker since they look identical and share a flower blossom pattern, and of course perform very well.
It does lack an internal monitoring computer like the above two, but despite that, does make consistent quality rice batches. To add in a personal observation, I once noticed this rice cooker being used over and over at a restaurant I frequent which helps solidify the Good rating I gave it on this site.
The cooker, although basic, is priced a bit high in our opinion, but Zojirushi is a top name in the rice cooker industry so expect this cooker to have durable parts and last long. It will not boil over thanks to the sealed top lid design and will not burn the bottom layer of rice (though some mild crusting may occur).
It sports a rewindable cord, stay cool carrying handle, and great keep warm mode.
Currently, these are the only Zojirushi 5 cup rice cooker models that we have come across and have found many online reviews on.
