Don’t just buy a Zojirushi rice cooker because it happens to have the highest price tag. Be sure and know what you’re getting and compare to other brands like Sanyo before making a final purchase.
This 5.5 cup capacity rice cooker happens to be one of the most popular models with well over 200 customer reviews on Amazon.com at the time of this writing…most which are 5 & 4 Star ratings!
This cooker is great for folks who want very high quality white and brown rice and do not mind the extra programmed soaking and cooking time needed to ensure such a batch is produced.
The machine is very easy to use and will yield around 16 cup or so of cooked white rice. It also sports a great keep warm function, rice paddle for easy serving, and non-stick inner bowl for hassle free cleaning.
Other Zojirushi 5.5 cup rice cooker models to consider are:
Zojirushi NS-RNC10 (basic cooker)
A very good rated and compact 3 cup capacity cooker to consider is the Zojirushi NS-LAC05.
For folks who want to buy a Zojirushi rice cooker that is capable of making a large amount of high quality brown rice, this cooker should be of interest (10 Cup Capacity).
However, as we state on the main review page covering this unit, folks should only buy this rice cooker if they either plan to use it constantly, and moreover if they consume more brown rice than white rice.
We state this since this cooker is very expensive and is also more geared for making brown rice since it uses both an extra soaking time (called “GABA”) along with a variable pressure cooking method.
The result is excellent quality brown rice that has perfect texture and is easier to digest. Worth it for daily brown rice lovers only!
Also consider the less expensive Zojirushi NS-ZCC18 10 cup cooker or the basic Zojirushi NHS18 rice cooker as well.
Basic & More Affordable
For those who wish to skip on all the technical monitoring technology and prefer to buy a Zojirushi rice cooker that is less expensive and on the basic side for creating good quality regular white rice there are two choices.
1) Zojirushi NHS Series
2) Zojirushi RNC Series
Both of these cookers do not have Fuzzy Logic and are a little more budget friendly. The RNC Series Zojirushi rice cookers may not be the best rice cookers out there for preparing perfect white or brown rice, but they will yield an average standard batch in less than half the time (minus optional soaking).
They are pretty straight forward to use, and like the Tiger JNP cookers have a single switch design, quality build, and well constructed sealed design that not only helps prevent boil over issues, but lock in moisture keeping the rice moist and fluffy for hours without drying it out.
These cookers come in both a 5.5 Cup and large 10 Cup capacity.
The Zojirushi NHS series cookers are pretty much the same, only they come with a removable top lid and additional steaming tray for preparing healthy steamed food while the rice cooks below.
However, folks will need to monitor how the rice is cooking and keep a look out for possible bubbling starchy water (common with all cookers of this top lid design).
Should folks be interested to buy a Zojirushi rice cooker regarding this specific series, keep in mind there are currently 3 cup sizes offered.
Zojirushi NHS-06 (3 Cup)
Zojirushi NHS-10 (6 Cup)
Zojirushi NHS-18 (10 Cup)
