Aroma ARC-856 – With the ability to cook rice, steam food, and slow cook stews and soups, this Aroma 6 cup rice cooker is an ideal all-in-one cooker for the price tag.
The cooker has a stylish modern look and uses Aroma’s “Sensor Logic” technology, (similar to fuzzy logic) which monitors how the rice is cooking resulting in a more well-even cooked batch of rice. The ARC-856 has 3 different rice settings on board which are: white rice, brown rice, and sushi rice.
It also comes with a steaming rack allowing folks to simultaneously steam food while the rice is cooking below which is a plus, and also has a slow-cooking setting making it more than just a rice cooker; granted this feature could have used a wee bit more thought since it only “slow cooks” for 2 hours.
Generally, most cookers in this price range do not offer such diverse benefits (as like the Zojirushi model mentioned last), so overall folks are getting plenty of value for what they paid for. Full Aroma ARC-856 Review
Aroma ARC-1266F – For folks who can do without all the bells & whistles offered by the above model and who prefer just a simple one-lever measure, set, forget rice cooker, the Aroma ARC-1266F is another good choice.
While there are some cons worth mentioning, the unit performs decently and will prepare an average-standard quality batch of white or brown rice in under 25 minutes.
It also doubles as a food steamer allowing folks to cook healthy steamed veggies while the rice boils below making this a convenient 6 cup rice cooker for those who will benefit from this extra feature.
A bit more than just a rice cooker and perfect for busy households or for folks who want a break from making time consuming dinners and prefer to plug in a unit that makes an entire meal without major preparation and cleanup. Full Aroma ARC-1266F Review
Zojirushi NHS-10 – Another good-rated 6 cup rice steamer cooker is the NHS-10 from Zojirushi.
This model is one of the few Zojirushi rice cookers that does not come equipped with fuzzy logic technology and like the above Aroma 1266F uses a simple rapid boil to cook the rice…then switches to an auto keep warm mode once complete.
However, unlike the Aroma ARC-1266F, the Zojirushi does not start out in cook mode and let’s folks decide when to push the lever to start the process.
Included with this Zojirushi 6 cup rice cooker is a non-stick bowl for easy serving & cleaning, measuring cup, rice paddle, and steaming tray for simultaneously preparing food while the rice cooks below.
Granted we have heard reports of the common rice crusting and spill over concerning this unit, (see tips) but overall it is a good performing rice cooker worth checking out. Full Review Coming Soon…
Browse 6 Cup Cookers by Brand:
We have found that 6 cup rice cooker capacity units are not as plentiful as 3, 5.5, or 10 cup cookers.
During our research, these three models above are the only 6 cup capacity cookers we have stumbled across that perform well and receive a majority of positive feedback.
A 6 cup rice cooker will yield around 18 cups of cooked white rice and is the ideal size for an average household consisting of 4 ot 6 people.
Now while the above units also allow the convenient benefit of steaming food using the included trays, the amount of vegetables, poultry, seafood, etc. is only large enough to feed 3 to 4 people (as a small side dish with the rice).
For folks who will benefit from a slightly larger cooker, please also see our “Best 8 Cup Cookers” tab as well.
